MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR THE COMBINED FATALITIES OF THE BERLIN AIRLIFT 

FASSBERG AIR BASE IN FASSBERG, GERMANY

Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Berlin Airlift

At Fassberg Air Base in Germany on Friday, June 7th, a memorial service for the combined Berlin Airlift fatalities was held in the City of Fassberg on the day before the Saturday airshow.A memorial wreath was contributed by the Berlin Airlift Remembrance Alliance. Alliance member Paul Hicks, Director of the Berlin Airlift Museum on the base, was joined in the presentation by Denise Halvorsen Williams, the daughter of Gail Halvorsen (Col. U.S.A.F Ret.), the Berlin Airlift Candy Bomber. They were joined by Eddie Ide, BARA Founder representing the Berlin Airlift Veterans Association and the Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation. 

The service was held and attended by German Air Force and civilian leadership with a large crowd. An ensemble from the U.S.A.F band in Europe performed at this ceremony and at an evening event.
