BAVA Legacy vol 34 #2
2024
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE FROM RALPH DIONNE
Preparations are underway in Berlin for the coming 75th Anniversary Celebration of the ending of the Berlin Airlift, and are proceeding well! Formal Invitations from the Mayor have been sent out to “able to attend” Airlift Veterans who will be accompanied by family and associates from both the USA and UK.
The City of Berlin sponsored events will begin on Saturday, May 11th and terminate on Sunday, May 12th. On Monday the 13th, there will be a scenic bus tour through the countryside to the scenic town of Bad Belzig for lunch and visitation. A full report of the Berlin events will be forthcoming in the next issue of the “Legacy”!
For the past two years, our good friends in the Burtonwood Association have joined with BAVA in both of our Dayton, Ohio and Little Rock, Arkansas Reunions! This year they have invited BAVA to participate in their Reunion in Las Vegas! Our Full Board of Directors has approved and accepted their invitation. It will take place at the Orleans Hotel from September 30th through October 3rd. Our Vice President, Tom Hansen will be in charge of BAVA’s participation in this anticipated Reunion! Details and sign-up forms are included further in this issue of the “Legacy”!
It is urgent that hotel reservations be made soon, as the total income to be derived by hotel as of August 31st from registration fees will determine the level of meals and services to be negotiated at that time. We recommend your signing up soon!
Under most conditions, cancellation of reservations can be made up to 24 hours before the beginning date of the reservation without penalty! Verify for peace of mind when making your reservation!…Ralph
